A comparison of the use of organophosphate insecticide or nitrogen fertilizer to compensate for pasture yield losses caused by porina caterpillar

, : A comparison of the use of organophosphate insecticide or nitrogen fertilizer to compensate for pasture yield losses caused by porina caterpillar. Proceedings of the New Zealand Weed and Pest Control Conference 26: 189-193

Yield and botanical composition responses to applications of N, fenitrothion or diazinon in June to a ryegrass/white clover pasture infested with porina caterpillar (Wiseana spp.) were measured in Aug. and Sept. The pesticides reduced caterpillar numbers but had no effect on pasture DM yields or botanical composition.
