A histochemical study of phosphatases in root apical meristems

, : A histochemical study of phosphatases in root apical meristems. Annals of Botany 38(154): 165-174

Root apices of a range of species including barley, maize, sunflower and Phaseolus vulgaris were examined histochemically for the distribution of acid phosphatase, ATPase and glucose-6-phosphatase. Intense activity was demonstrated in the root cap, protoderm and cortex of all roots tested, and moderate activity in the procambial strands and differentiating tracheary elements.
