Abnormal glucose tolerance in children with achondroplasia

, : Abnormal glucose tolerance in children with achondroplasia. American Journal of Diseases of Children 124(5): 682-685

Of 24 children with achondroplasia in whom glucose tolerance was tested by mouth 16 were intolerant. Fasting plasma free fatty acids were significantly raised and increased further after human growth hormone was given. Plasma insulin was normal but growth hormone values were significantly lower than normal during the day. Serum cholesterol was within the high normal range.
