Abnormal growth of lettuce associated with a gibberellin-producing strain of Fusarium oxysporum

, : Abnormal growth of lettuce associated with a gibberellin-producing strain of Fusarium oxysporum. Search, Sydney 2(4): 141-142

Lettuce, cvs Pennlake and Great Lakes, grown on 2 farms near Wagga Wagga, NSW, have shown abnormal growth since 1967. Petioles and stems are much elongated, and leaves are curled and fail to head. Plants appear to be entering the seed producing stage prematurely because of elongation of the stems. The saleable crop has been reduced by more than 90%.
