Abnormal occurrence of empty grains of indica rice plants in the dry, hot season in Thailand

, : Abnormal occurrence of empty grains of indica rice plants in the dry, hot season in Thailand. Proceedings of the Crop Science Society of Japan 42(1): 103-109

The abnormal increase in the number of empty grains in the hot, dry season was studied with 12 rice at the Bangkhen and Suphanburi Rice Experiment Stations and at various other locations in Thailand. Marked increases in empty grains occurred in some when they flowered in the dry, hot season (Apr.-May), but not when they flowered in the rainy season, the empty grains being due to failure to fertilize.
