Abnormal rate of granule cell migration in the cerebellum of weaver mutant mice

"Weaver", a neurological disorder, is transmitted by an incompletely dominant gene (Wv) and not by a simple recessive as previously reported. Both the heterozygous carrier and homozygous weaver mice show alterations in the cytoarchitectonics of the cerebellum. However, no behavioural abnormalities due to the cerebellar disorder can be detected in the heterozygous carrier. Studies with autoradiography showed that the alterations in the cytoarchitectonics of both the heterozygous carrier and homozygous weaver cerebellums are associated with a reduced rate of granule cell migration.
