Abomasal and blood plasma nitrogen constituents of wethers fed corn gluten and fish meal supplemented semipurified diets

, : Abomasal and blood plasma nitrogen constituents of wethers fed corn gluten and fish meal supplemented semipurified diets. Journal of Animal Science 35(5): 1020-1024

Four mature wethers with abomasum cannulae were given, twice daily, pelleted semipurified diets with 20% maize gluten meal or fish meal or with 1:2 or 2:1 mixtures of them. Preliminary and collection periods were each 7 days. The molar proportions of threonine and serine in the abomasum were highest and the molar proportion of arginine in the abomasum and plasma was lowest in the all-fish meal supplemented diet.
