Abomasal nitrogen, plasma amino acids and nitrogen balance responses of wethers to fed or abomasally infused methionine

, : Abomasal nitrogen, plasma amino acids and nitrogen balance responses of wethers to fed or abomasally infused methionine. Journal of Animal Science 35(2): 446-449

Four mature crossbred wethers were given, twice daily, 300 g ground wheat straw and 200 g concentrate mixture containing 18.75% soya bean meal, with or without 0.18% DL-methionine. After 7 preliminary days abomasal contents were collected at intervals for 6 days and blood samples were taken at intervals on the 14th day. Dietary methionine had no effect on N fractions in the abomasum or the amino acid composition of the abomasal fluid or plasma.
