Abortion in ewes caused by Salmonella derby

, : Abortion in ewes caused by Salmonella derby. Veterinary Record 93(3): 81-81

The first report of S. derby abortion in sheep. Seven ewes in a flock of 226 aborted; S. derby was isolated on direct culture from the foetus and placenta of the three examined. There was good correlation between abortion and high blood titres, except in one ewe which had no titre at all, although S. derby was isolated from foetus and placenta. Ten other ewes excreted S. derby in the faeces, but these animals were all serologically negative.
