Abrus precatorius poisoning in cattle


, : Abrus precatorius poisoning in cattle. Indian Veterinary Journal 49(10): 1045-1049

Poisonous spikes or needles made from the paste of ground, decorticated seeds of A. precatorius are inserted into the throat or hind quarter of cattle by hide dealers in India and Pakistan, in order that deaths are attributed by their owners to haemorrhagic septicaemia or blackquarter.
