Abscisic acid and seedling growth

, : Abscisic acid and seedling growth. Zeitschrift fur Pflanzenphysiologie 68(4): 382-384

In pea seedlings cultivated in tap water containing certain minerals shoot growth was promoted by the addition of 0.1 and 1 mg ABA/1, but retarded by 2 mg ABA. GA3 applied to the shoot apex at 0.5 mu g/plant often interacted synergistically with ABA, indicating that ABA intensifies the growth promotion resulting from GA3 treatment. Ether extracts from 16-day-old pea shoots treated with 2 mg ABA/1 contained about 43% more ABA than untreated controls.
