Abscisic Acid effect on root exudation related to increased permeability to water

, : Abscisic Acid effect on root exudation related to increased permeability to water. Plant Physiology 51(1): 217-219

The exudation rate from cut stems of 25-day-old sunflower plants grown in Hoagland solution was increased by ABA in the nutrient solution, with the greatest effect at a concentration of 1 mg/l. The exudation rate rapidly became negative after addition of mannitol to the nutrient solution to give an osmotic concentration of 170 milliosmole/kg, but the effect was reversed by returning the plant to normal nutrient solution.
