Abscisic acid in pea shoots

The ABA content of the tall pea cv. Gradus and dwarf pea cv. Progress No.9 was determined using gas-liquid chromatography. In plants grown in red light, levels ranged from 0.009 to 0.023 mu g/plant for dwarf peas, 0.016-0.030 mu g/plant for tall peas, and in those raised in darkness 0.005-0.027 mu g/plant for dwarf peas and 0.014-0.032 mu g/plant for tall peas. None of the differences were significant.
