Abscisic acid metabolism and stomatal physiology in Betula lutea following alteration in photoperiod

, : Abscisic acid metabolism and stomatal physiology in Betula lutea following alteration in photoperiod. Annals of Botany 38(154): 85-92

Height growth of young seedlings ceased when they were transferred from a long-day (LD) regime (16-hour photoperiod) to a short-day (SD) regime (8-hour photoperiod). This cessation of growth was associated with enhanced rates of photosynthesis, probably due to a lowered diffusive resistance to gas exchange. Endogenous concentrations of ABA were reduced under the SD regime, but the degradation of 2-C14( plus or minus )ABA was not disturbed.
