Abscisic-acid-like activity of trisporic acids

, : Abscisic-acid-like activity of trisporic acids. Experientia 27(12): 1387-1388

Trisporic acids are sex hormones, analogous to ABA, produced by mixed cultures of plus and minus strains of Blakeslea trispora. Germination of barley was completely prevented by 1000 mu g/ml tetrahydrotrisporic acid (used because of its greater stability compared with trisporic acid), while 200 mu g/ml decreased it from 95 to 60% and delayed germination by 1 day.
