Abscission responses of cotton leaves in relation to natural occurrence of some endogenous growth regulators

, : Abscission responses of cotton leaves in relation to natural occurrence of some endogenous growth regulators. Science and Culture 40(9): 403-405

Abscission was studied in cotton leaves (a) 2-4, (b) 9-11, (c) 32-34 and (d) 40-43 days old in winter, spring, summer and autumn. The time required for 50% abscission of debladed petioles was longer in winter than in spring and in young (b) than in old (d) leaves. Lamina contents of IAA-like compounds were higher in (b) than in (d) leaves and were minimum in spring and maximum in winter.
