Abscission: support for a role of ethylene modification of auxin transport
Beyer, E.M., 1973: Abscission: support for a role of ethylene modification of auxin transport. Plant Physiology 52(1): 1-5
In cotton and beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), treatment with 14 mu l ethylene/l air for 24 or 48 h increased leaf abscission and decreased auxin transport, but the effect decreased when the plants were returned to air without ethylene. In cotton, no effects of 24 h in 14 mu l ethylene/l were found at 8 deg C, but as the temperature increased auxin transport decreased and at more than or equal to 27 deg abscission occurred.
