Absence of Marek's disease in chicks hatched from eggs containing blood or meat spots

, : Absence of Marek's disease in chicks hatched from eggs containing blood or meat spots. Avian Diseases 17(1): 141-144

Chicks hatched from eggs containing blood or meat spots and reared in isolation for 10 weeks showed no serological, virological, or pathological evidence of Marek's disease. The eggs originated from an unvaccinated flock with high MD mortality during the egg-laying period or from a flock vaccinated with herpesvirus of turkeys. Hence it seems improbable that the herpesviruses are transmitted congenitally.
