Absence of XX/XY chimaerism in somatic tissues in freemartin calf foetuses and their male co-twins

, : Absence of XX/XY chimaerism in somatic tissues in freemartin calf foetuses and their male co-twins. Annales de Genetique 16(3): 149-155

Cytogenetic studies were carried out on lung, kidney, mesonephros and gonadal cell cultures derived from 8 freemartin foetuses and 4 male co-twin foetuses 60-70 days after insemination. No XX/XY chimaerism was found in the 3302 metaphases studied in 27 cultures (5-35 days in vitro), irrespective of the degree of abnormality of the ovaries and Mullerian ducts of the freemartins.
