Absence of correlation between the high-potential cytochrome b-559 and photosystem II activity

, : Absence of correlation between the high-potential cytochrome b-559 and photosystem II activity. Zeitschrift fur Pflanzenphysiologie 72(5): 389-394

High-potential cytochrome b-559 (b-559HP) absent from barley etioplasts was first detected after 4 h continuous illumination and thereafter increased in 18-h plastids to a concentration similar to that of mature chloroplasts. Cytochrome b-559HP could not be detected in barley plastids developed under intermittent light. Photosystem II activity with water as electron donor could be induced by 10 min continuous light after 300 flashes without cytochrome b-559HP being detected.
