Absence of sensitization to epinephrine-induced cardiac arrhythmia and fibrillation in dogs and cats anesthetized with CI 744

, : Absence of sensitization to epinephrine-induced cardiac arrhythmia and fibrillation in dogs and cats anesthetized with CI 744. American Journal of Veterinary Research 36(5): 695-698

CI 744 (equal parts of tiletamine and zolazepam) at 20 mg/kg, given intramuscularly, produced a reliable level of surgical anaesthesia in both dogs and cats. Animals anaesthetized in this way did not have an increased sensitivity to cardiac fibrillation after they were given adrenaline. Adrenaline-induced ventricular arrhythmia observed in CI 744-anaesthetized animals was eliminated in cats and was greatly reduced in dogs by bilateral vagotomy.
