Absorbing activity of roots of some field crops

, : Absorbing activity of roots of some field crops. Zapiski Leningradskogo Sel' skokhozyaistvennogo Instituta 218: 22-27

In pot experiments and field trials, the effects of stand density, fertilizers and mechanical composition and fertility of the soil on the root system in cultivars differing in maturity and yielding ability of potatoes, oats, spring wheat, maize, sunflower and peas, were determined. The absorbing surface of roots was highest in sunflower and spring wheat and lowest in peas and potatoes.
