Two sows fed on roots, concentrates and skimmed milk had litters of 17 and 9 pigs which were given, by stomach tube, on the 3rd day of life 59Fe in the form of ferrous tartrate, 150 mg Fe; groups of 4 pigs were killed after 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 days and Hb values of the remainder were studied until 31 days after the Fe treatment. They were not given creep feed. The lower normal limit for Hb was taken to be 8 g/100 ml and no value fell below that limit until about 24 days after the dose of Fe.
