Absorption and passage of fat- and water-soluble thiamin derivatives into erythrocytes and cerebrospinal fluid of man

, : Absorption and passage of fat- and water-soluble thiamin derivatives into erythrocytes and cerebrospinal fluid of man. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 27(7): 676-680

When healthy adults were given lipid-soluble allithiamins (thiamin tetrahydrofurfuryl disulphide and thiamin propyl disulphide) 50 mg by mouth, thiamin activity increased significantly in whole blood, erythrocytes and cerebrospinal fluid, equivalent to that produced by intravenous administration of water-soluble thiamin hydrochloride and thiamin pyrophosphate.
