Absorption and translocation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) by barley roots

, : Absorption and translocation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) by barley roots. Annual Report, Agricultural Research Council, Letcombe Laboratory, 1972: 32-33

The transpiration stream concn. factor (TSCF) and the concn. of labelled material in barley roots was increased about 30-fold by reducing the pH of uptake solution containing 0.2 ppm 14C-labelled 2,4-D from 8 to 4. As the TSCF at pH 4 is >1 and is markedly reduced by sodium azide, metabolic involvement in uptake is suggested.
