Absorption of 65zinc and 64copper in zinc deficiency

, : Absorption of 65zinc and 64copper in zinc deficiency. International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research 44(2): 258-266

For 22 days 14 growing male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 33 g were given a Zn-deficient casein diet containing only 3.5 mg Zn/kg, compared with 25 and 40 mg/kg for 2 groups of 14 fed freely or pair-fed on the same casein diet. The mixtures of the Zn-depleted and of the pair-fed control group contained 10 mg Cu/kg, which was twice the concentration for those fed freely. All had distilled water available. The bodyweight and Zn and Cu status of all groups were then compared.
