Absorption of Myofer (iron dextran) by the epithelium of the forestomachs of goats.

, : Absorption of Myofer (iron dextran) by the epithelium of the forestomachs of goats.. Zentralblatt fur Veterinarmedizin 18A(Heft 10): 824-834

Light and electron microscopy of the forestomach epithelium of six adult goats administered iron dextran into the rumen revealed the compound in considerable amounts in the stratum corneum and in very small amounts in the stratum granulosum; in both these layers it was detectable in both cells and intercellular spaces. Uptake did not occur by pinocytosis.
