Absorption of amino acids from casein and casein hydrolysate in isolated segments of the small intestine in pigs

, : Absorption of amino acids from casein and casein hydrolysate in isolated segments of the small intestine in pigs. Zeszyty Problemowe Postepow Nauk Rolniczych (126): 129-133

Two pigs of bodyweight about 40 kg were prepared with 2 cannulae. In one of the pigs the cannulae were inserted at 1 and 3 m distal to the pyloric antrum and in the other at 2 and 5.5 m. In 6 experiments 64 to 81% of the N of hydrolysed casein introduced into the loops was absorbed, against 4 to 24% of that of intact casein. Free glutamic acid, lysine and histidine in the hydrolysed casein were absorbed more slowly than those in the intact casein.
