Absorption of herbicides by soybean seeds and their influence on emergence and seedling growth

, : Absorption of herbicides by soybean seeds and their influence on emergence and seedling growth. Weed Science 20(5): 506-510

The total quantity and concn. of chlorpropham at 5 and 50 ppm and of atrazine, linuron, alachlor, chloramben-potassium and 2,4-D-potassium at 50 ppm absorbed by the seeds of 11 soybean strains from unaerated aqueous solutions were measured. Movement of herbicides from aqueous solutions to seeds in the experimental procedure employed was by diffusion. Total quantity and concn. of herbicide found in the seeds differed significantly for both herbicides and soybean cvs.
