Absorption of radiovitamin B12 in mice after specific irradiation of the stomach

, : Absorption of radiovitamin B12 in mice after specific irradiation of the stomach. Annales Medicinae Experimentalis et Biologiae Fenniae 51(4): 151-154

Absorption was studied in white female mice 4 weeks after the stomach, with blood and nerve supply intact, had been removed from the abdominal cavity, shielded by a lead cover and irradiated locally with different doses of X-rays. Fasted mice received cyanocobalamin-57Co by stomach tube, 24 h later radioactivity was estimated in liver, kidneys, heart and spleen. Radiation impaired absorption to an extent proportional to the total dose.
