Absorption of thiamin. 3. Effect of thyroid activity on absorption of thiamin-35S

, : Absorption of thiamin. 3. Effect of thyroid activity on absorption of thiamin-35S. Zhivotnovudni Nauki 10(8): 61-66

3. In chicken broilers given L-thyroxine, 100 mu g/kg liveweight by injection during 3 successive days, absorption of thiamin-35S increased by 65.1% whereas in chickens given 6-methylthiouracil, 230 mu g/kg liveweight by mouth during 3 successive days, absorption decreased by 39.9%. Accumulation of thiamin-35S in duodenal mucosa was greater in chickens with enhanced absorption; low accumulation of thiamin was associated with lower absorption.
