Crohn's disease was diagnosed in 11 patients between 8 and 21 years old on the basis of clinical, radiological and histological changes. The most common clinical features were abdominal pain, fever and weight loss. Complications occurred in 6 of the patients. Abnormal rectal biopsies were found in 5 but sigmoidoscopy was abnormal in only 2. Haematocrit values were low in 8 patients, indicating the presence of anaemia.
