Abundance and potential pathology of parasites infecting salmonids in Canadian maritime hatcheries

, : Abundance and potential pathology of parasites infecting salmonids in Canadian maritime hatcheries. Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada 31(6): 1031-1036

Eleven species of helminths were among parasites collected from 317 Salmo salar, 207 Salvelinus fontinalis and 34 S. gairdnerii from 13 Canadian Maritime hatcheries in 1972. Camallanus oxycephalus and Pomphorhynchus bulbocolli were recovered from Salmo salar for the first time. The incidence and intensity of infection were high for Diplostomulum spathaceum in S. salar, and Acanthocephalus lateralis in Salvelinus fontinalis.
