Acacia cyanophylla as a nurse for Pines in afforestation work on the Mediterranean coast of Anatolia

, : Acacia cyanophylla as a nurse for Pines in afforestation work on the Mediterranean coast of Anatolia. Forstwissenschaftliches Centralblatt 92(3): 111-119

Describes observations on sand-dune plantations at Sorkum, Anatolia, in which rows of Acacia cyanophylla spaced 18-20 m apart were planted behind a barrier fence and the intervening strips planted with rows of Pinus pinea, P. brutia, P. maritima, and other tree species. The Acacia was fast growing and hardy, and had a beneficial influence on the needle weight, nutrient status and growth of Pines in the first three adjacent rows, i.e. over a distance of ca. 3 m.
