Acanthobothrium urolophi sp.n., a tetraphyllidean cestode (Oncobothriidae) from an Australian stingaree

, : Acanthobothrium urolophi sp.n., a tetraphyllidean cestode (Oncobothriidae) from an Australian stingaree. Proceedings of the Helminthological Society of Washington 40(1): 91-93

Acanthobothrium urolophi n.sp. is described on the basis of 4 specimens found in the spiral valve of Urolophus testaceus caught off Adelaide, South Australia. A. urolophi differs from A. dasybati in having an accessory sucker 80 to 90 mu wide on the anterior part of each bothridium. It is also apolytic with few segments, acraspedote and possesses hooks 105 to 115 mu long. A. urolophi has 40 to 72 testes in 2 longitudinal rows.
