Acariasis caused by Cheyletiella parasitivorax Megnin, 1878. (First description in Spain)

, : Acariasis caused by Cheyletiella parasitivorax Megnin, 1878. (First description in Spain). Revista Iberica de Parasitologia 34(1/2): 129-136

Cheyletiella parasitivorax (Megn.) is recorded for the first time from Spain where one male and one female were found on a setter puppy that had skin lesions, baldness and desquamation. The dog's head was treated with an ointment containing 1% gamma BHC (lindane) and its body sprayed with a 1% solution of gamma BHC. This treatment was accompanied by a change to a more balanced diet and the administration of vitamins A and D.
