Acaricidal activity of thioketal adducts of pyruvoyl chloride phenylhydrazones and related compounds

, : Acaricidal activity of thioketal adducts of pyruvoyl chloride phenylhydrazones and related compounds. Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry 20(4): 888-891

Substituted pyruvoyl chloride phenylhydrazones react with alkanethiols and alkanedithiols to give thioketal adducts that were shown in tests with Tetranychus urticae Koch to be highly active as acaricides. The thioketal adducts were more active than the related ketals. High acaricidal activity was found in a wide variety of ring-substituted thioketal phenylhydrazones, although the position of the substitutent groups in isomeric compounds significantly affected this activity.
