An illustrated key is given to the larvae of the 4 families of terrestrial mites (Erythraeidae, Trombellidae, Trombidiidae and Johnstonianidae) and the 11 families and 15 genera of aquatic mites known or suspected to be parasitic on mosquito larvae. The aquatic mites belong to the families Pionidae (2 genera), Thyasidae (4 genera), Hydryphantidae, Hydrodromidae, Hydrachnidae, Mideidae, Mideopsidae, Arrenuridae, Limnesiidae, Hygrobatidae and Lebertiidae (1 genus each).
