Accelerated breeding of new high-yielding cereal varieties leads to high economic profit

, : Accelerated breeding of new high-yielding cereal varieties leads to high economic profit. Getreidewirtschaft (10): 221-223

on the basis of an analysis of the time taken to breed varieties approved in the German Democratic Republic, it is suggested that breeding time may be shortened by improving the effectiveness of selection, accelerating generation time as far as possible, reducing the testing period and maximizing preliminary multiplication of promising new lines.
