Accelerated endogenous growth in Avena coleoptile segments

An unexpected acceleration in elongation of oat coleoptile segments was observed with a position sensor transducer 2-2.5 h after excision when the segments were immersed in 5mM succinate buffer (pH6); the cause remained unidentified.
