Accelerated growth of Cattleya and Phalaenopsis under controlled-environment conditions

, : Accelerated growth of Cattleya and Phalaenopsis under controlled-environment conditions. American Orchid Society Bulletin 43(6): 503-510

Mericlones of Cattleya Lc. Culminart 'La Tuilerie' grown for 24 weeks in a controlled environment, at high light intensity and elevated temperatures, and given frequent fertilization produced 3-4 times the amount of leaf elongation on the lateral shoots and 2-3 times as many lateral shoots as plants grown under conventional greenhouse conditions. Maximum leaf growth was produced with a combination of 3000 lm/ft2 light and a day/night temperature of 80/75 deg F.
