Accelerating effect of 2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid foliar applications on leaf tobacco maturity

, : Accelerating effect of 2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid foliar applications on leaf tobacco maturity. Korean Journal of Botany 15(2): 43-48

Tobacco Yellow Special A, the leading Korean leaf tobacco cultivar, was grown at 4 sites in Korea in 1970-1 and sprayed with various levels of CEPA a few days after topping. Leaf yield was not significantly affected by treatment but leaf quality improved. Leaves treated with 300-900 ppm ethephon (about 140 litres 500 ppm ethephon/ha) yellowed and matured earlier and the time taken for flue curing was reduced by 50%.
