Acceptability by lambs of cadmium in feed and water

, : Acceptability by lambs of cadmium in feed and water. Nutrition Reports International 9(4): 273-276

A diet without or with Cd 3, 5, 8, 12 or 15 mu g/g as CdCl2 was given to appetite for 17 days to 3 groups of 2 Hampshire cross wether sheep about 8 months old. In a second experiment, which lasted 12 days, Cd was added to the drinking water at the same concentrations as added to the feed in the first experiment. In the first experiment greatest feed intake was with 8 mu g Cd/g and intake was significantly more than without or with 15 mu g Cd/g. The mean Cd intake was 17.3 mg/day.
