About 1,100 delegates from 45 countries participated in this conference. The technical aspects of using soya in human food were discussed, and the US Minister of Agriculture summarized the role the US was prepared to play on the world market, in exchange for liberal trade policies from the purchasing nations. The importance of soya in livestock feed and as a basis for cereal products was emphasized.
