Accumulation and effects of methyl mercury hydroxide in a terrestrial food chain under laboratory conditions

, : Accumulation and effects of methyl mercury hydroxide in a terrestrial food chain under laboratory conditions. Environmental Pollution 5(4): 305-316

10-day-old seedlings of maize WF 9 X M 14 and 19-day-old seedlings of snap beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) Burpee's Bountiful Varitty, grown in nutrient solution were supplied with 0-25 ppm methyl mercury hydroxide (MMH) for 13- 15 days to control aphids (Macrosiphum gei) and green lacewiny larvae (Chysopa carnea). After 10 days the average increase in shoot height in maize was 34.0 cm in the untreated control compared with 23.3 cm for 0.5 ppm MMH.
