Accumulation and elimination of residues of the aquatic herbicide dichlobenil in two species of British freshwater fish

, : Accumulation and elimination of residues of the aquatic herbicide dichlobenil in two species of British freshwater fish. Proceedings 4th EWRC International Symposium on Aquatic Weeds, Vienna: 202-209

Dichlobenil has been cleared for use as an aquatic herbicide in the UK but because of its toxicity to fish the margin of safety is small. In tests in aquaria the 24- and 48-h LC50's (median lethal concn.) for underyearling rainbow trout were 10.5 and 8.1 mg/litre, respectively, and 11.5 and 9.5 mg/litre for 2- to 3-year-old roach. Median survival time on exposure to 1 mg/litre was 58 plus or minus 5 days for rainbow trout and 26 plus or minus 4 days for roach.
