Seedlings of P. resinosa (aged 3 years) growing in a nursery in SW Wisconsin were exposed to C14O2 for 45 min. in Aug. 1971, when shoot elongation had ceased. The distribution of C14 was monitored and showed that much of the currently produced photosynthate was accumulated as reserves in roots, stems and twigs.
