Accumulation of 90strontium in different animals

, : Accumulation of 90strontium in different animals. Sel' skokhozyaistvennaya Biologiya 9(1): 124-127

Absorption and distribution of 90Sr were studied in 189 cattle, 175 sheep, 98 goats, 207 pigs and 490 hens aged from 3 to 1100 days; no detail about experimental methods is given. Absorption of 90Sr was almost 100% in the youngest animals but fell to 10 or 12% in the oldest. The greater the Ca content of the diet, the lower was the absorption of 90Sr. The absorbed 90Sr accumulated principally in skeletal tissue.
