Accumulation of dieldrin and heptachlor on corn leaves in and around a treated field

Leaves of maize grown in a field that had been treated with both heptachlor and dieldrin at 5.6 kg/ha accumulated total insecticide residues to a maximum of over 1.8 p.p.m. Residue concentrations decreased with height on the plant ; leaves 180 cm above ground contained only 20-30% as much as those at 60 cm.
