Accumulation of ingested sulphite- and sulphate-sulphur and utilization of sulphited proteins by rats

For 2, 7 and 14 days male and female rats were given sulphate-35S or sulphite-35S in daily doses equivalent to 50 mg SO2/kg. Accumulation seemed similar for all the tissues studied except for skin, hair, stomach and possibly the intestine, in which there was a relatively greater accumulation of 35S when sulphite was given.
